Industry Presence: The talk of the town

Our studio is founded on 4 key values, including a commitment to collaboration, creative initiative and sharing of ideas. This commitment extends beyond our studio practice into our contribution to our profession's development & image within the community. Here are just some of the events, talks and tours that we're been invited to speak at throughout 2018:

Director Team: Leading by example

2019 brings with it a Lat27 leadership team that is stronger than ever. The studio is led by our five Directors (Andrew Neighbour, Paul Druery, Nathalie Ward, John Ilett & Damian Thompson) and three Practice Directors (Wendy Davies, Matthew Nolan and Andrew Kramer). The directors operate the studio under the guise of our studio values:

New Precinct: A Heart of Gold

The 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games has come and gone with great success and the Athlete's Village was a big hit with the visiting athletes, coaches and media. The success of the Parklands Project is also reflected in the 11 awards the project has received from multiple industry bodies over the last year and a half.

Now the games are over, Lat27 are assisting Economic Development Queensland with the development of future lots, including temporary activation and master plan refinement.

Regional Planning: Central Coast vibes

Lat27 has been working closely with Coffs Harbour City Council over the last few years to create the strategic planning framework to guide the growth and revitalisation of Woolgoolga's Town Centre over the next 20 years. The Woolgoolga Town Centre Master Plan was officially adopted by the Council in February this year. To read the entire Master Plan report, head to the Coffs Harbour City Council website.

The Woolgoolga Town Centre Master Plan was recently awarded a Landscape Architecture Award for Urban Design from the NSW Branch of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects.

The first implementation project from the Woolgoolga Town Centre Master Plan, the Woolgoolga Beach Reserve Concept Plan, was recently endorsed by Coffs Harbour City Council following extensive community consultation. The Detailed Concept Plan incorporates the community’s desired outcomes and seeks to enhance the natural amenity and beauty of the Reserve. The Detailed Concept Plan can be viewed on Coffs Harbour City Council's website.

Public Realm: In a state of Flow

In the heart of the South Bank Parklands sits a glowing beacon, a carefully crafted, open air pavilion and creative space. Since the launch earlier this year, Flowstate has been embraced by visitors and locals alike, as a place to gather and a place to celebrate local art and culture with its vibrant program of free performance and workshops. We are proud to have been apart of the team (Stukel Stone (Now Stukel Architecture and Tobhiyah Stone Feller), Studio ENESS, Luxxbox for South Bank Corporation) to deliver this vibrant space for the community to enjoy 24/7.

Flowstate was recently awarded the Award of Excellence for Great Places from the Queensland Branch of the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA).

Residential: Why don't you stay a while

Construction is complete, the dust has settled and residents & guests have moved into some of our most recently completed residential and hotel projects around Brisbane. Hamilton Reach is booming and the latest addition, Riverlight is a luxurious & spacious riverside lifestyle and only a relaxing CityCat trip away from the city. Newstead Series is right in the thick of it without sacrificing the relaxing open space that inner city residents desire. The Calile Hotel, a luxurious sub-tropical paradise in the middle of the evolving James Street precinct, proving that great design means you don't have to leave the city to escape it.

Urban Renewal: A (Kangaroo) Point of difference

The Kangaroo Point Peninsula is one of Brisbane's most well-known and densely inhabited inner-city suburbs and 2019 brings an update of the Kangaroo Point Peninsula Neighbourhood Plan will help shape the future of the area.

Lat27 worked closely with Brisbane City Council to prepare the Kangaroo Point Peninsula Urban Renewal Strategy, a comprehensive place analysis, strategy identification and implementation framework for one of Brisbane’s most well-known and densely inhabited inner-city suburbs. Community and stakeholder engagement established core directions and outcomes for the Peninsula as part of the planning and design process.

The Kangaroo Point Peninsula Urban Renewal Strategy was recently awarded a Landscape Architecture Award for Landscape Planning from the QLD Branch of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects.

Urban Corridors: Oxley Creek Transformation

The final version of the Oxley Creek Transformation Master Plan was released in October this year after a year long consultation process with Oxley Creek Transformation Pty Ltd & key stakeholders. This outcome is as a result of the draft release in May and several months of public consultation. Lat27 was the lead consultant for this master plan working closely with Oxley Creek Transformation Pty Ltd to guide long-term planning and prioritisation of improvements to the Oxley Creek corridor.

Oxley Creek Transformation was recently awarded the Award of Excellence for Best Planning Ideas - Large from the Queensland Branch of the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA).
