With the year quickly drawing to a close, we take this chance to thank you for your support and partnerships through 2015. We wish you all a very happy festive season and look forward to seeing you in 2016.

1. Ferry Terminals Now Open

Our journey began almost four years ago with the first concept sketches tabled to re-shape eight of Brisbane’s key ferry terminals and land based public realm. Today, the city is the proud custodian of these distinctive pieces of river infrastructure that address flood mitigation measures, equitable access, embedded sustainability measures, improved connectivity and awareness of broader public transport opportunities. 2. AILA State Planning Award

The River’s Edge Public Realm Study won an award in the planning category of the AILA QLD State Awards. The study was the predecessor to Council’s River’s Edge Strategy. Continue reading here.

3. College gardens take shape

Mount Alvernia College’s La Foresta kitchen garden is in full swing. We are immensely proud of this transformation and after only a year in the ground the garden is already contributing a truly positive space for students and teaching staff alike. 4. King Street opens for business

Brisbane’s newest ‘high street’ in the Brisbane Showgrounds Redevelopment Precinct will offer a wide and vibrant mix of dining, retail, market spaces, cafes and bars set within a high quality streetscape. King Street establishes a vital link between The Plaza at the Royal International Convention Centre and St Pauls Terrace and will mature to become the activity spine through the heart of the wider urban renewal precinct. 5. Adventure play for Roma Street Parkland

An exciting new attraction in the Roma Street Parkland appeared this year with the completion of the Children’s Garden and adventure play. The setting is a significant addition to the Parkland’s family friendly activities. Its design creatively integrates the 100 year old figs, re-purposes existing buildings and park infrastructure and reinforces the famous horticultural reputation of the Parkland. 6. City shaping projects are back

Lat27 is engaged as the urban designer and landscape architect for the Kingsford Smith Drive Upgrade, Toowoomba Second Range Crossing and the Gateway Upgrade North. These significant infrastructure projects present their own unique challenges in redefining how our transit corridors can enhance and contribute to our urban and rural environments.

7. Industry Engagement

In October, Andrew Neighbour helped open 480 Queen Street by presenting the design of Brisbane’s new sky park – Hobbs Park - as part of the Brisbane Open House program. Damian Thompson addressed the Parks & Leisure Queensland Conference in June, sharing his knowledge in capturing maximum community benefit from our Water Management projects.

8. AILA welcomes Paul and Nathalie

Paul Druery was appointed to the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects Senior Practitioner Advisory Panel. Nathalie Ward accepted an advisory role on the National Practice Committee.

9. New Faces

10. New Studio

Needless to say, the Wyandra Street studio was starting to get a little too tight. We moved to our new 300 Ann Street studio in October...  and haven’t looked back.
