Working as part of a team lead by ‘The Long View Group’ Consortium, Lat27’s role included master planning and conceptual built form design services for the Department of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing.

The Master Plan for the Walkabout Creek Gateway Visitor Centre resulted from a series of  consultative workshops with Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and other key stakeholders and public consultation meetings. Informed by detailed analysis, marketing strategies and a  business model, the Master Plan provides QPWS with a vision for creating a unique gateway activity hub for Brisbane’s residents and visitors on the City’s doorstep.

The Centre will become a new activity-based attraction showcasing a range of adventurous activities for people of all ages and abilities. The proposed buildings have been configured to provide direct and equitable access, via an elevated walkway, to an environmentally sensitive building sited on the edge of the Enoggera Dam.

The first stages of implementing the Master Plan have commenced with construction of a new public canoe launch facility and the Activity Centre. This included vehicle access, set down and parking areas, activity trails, nature play elements, a picnic area on the edge of the dam and an events lawn.
