The ‘Children’s Garden’ was carefully nestled in to complement the adjacent Spectacle Garden and provide a significant addition to the family friendly activities available at the Parklands, attracting and engaging children of all ages and abilities.

City Parklands had a vision to significantly enhance the play experience within Roma Street Parkland and establish a high quality interactive playground, while still reinforcing its horticultural reputation. In partnership with Playscape Creations, Lat27 transformed the space to a new hive of activity within the broader Parklands.

A key feature, and point of success, is the integration of the playground within the existing parkland fabric. An existing gazebo shelter, pathways, dramatic topography and large mature shade trees were all re-purposed and unified to create a cohesive multi-sensory experience with an exploratory thread of discovery that meanders through the parkland.

The playground is now abuzz with activity and has re-invigorated the north-east pocket of Roma Street Parkland.
