The Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) had recently undertaken the development of a comprehensive Property Master Plan (PMP) to help guide the future development at Brisbane Airport. One of the first significant projects to be delivered as a part of the PMP was the Brisbane Airport Service Centre Project within the Banksia Place Precinct. It includes a Service Station, food outlets, car servicing facilities, car wash facilities, ATM’s and various other amenities.

Lat27 developed a site-specific landscape design approach that emphasised the landmark qualities of this highly visible, early stage site. We were particularly interested in how the site broadened the airport ‘offer’ – with more opportunities for social exchange and gathering outside of a terminal setting. Developing active, 24 hour places to linger - within a distinctive, subtropical setting - emphasised the PMP’s desire to create destinations that are ’more than a place of transit’.
