LatStudios is honoured to have collaborated with the Blaklash team and Claudia Taborda, to curate COUNTRY, the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) Festival of Landscape Architecture 2022, held in Magandjin (Brisbane). The extended creative team advising on the direction of the festival included Tristan Schultz, Owen Café, Laree Barney, Jordan Eaton, Erin McDonald and Samuel Davis.

An all First Nations’ cast of guests was representative of the diversity in Country across Australia, and the diverse philosophical approaches to understanding, being with, designing with and caring for Country. Conversations ranged from furthering our understanding of Country to unpacking design thinking, to applications for design practice.

Our studio acknowledges that with privilege comes the responsibility for built environment professionals to commit to working together with First Nations People to repair Country to the full extent of our ability. We commit to continuing our support for First Nations People by making space for their leadership as we shape positive solutions for our communities and the natural environment we depend upon.
