Marina Couchman

Graduate Landscape Planner/Landscape Architect

Marina is a Landscape Architecture (Honours) graduate from the Queensland University of Technology, with a professional background in project coordination within the creative industries and tertiary education sectors.

Marina is the 2022 Karl Langer Award winner, the highest honour awarded to a Landscape Architecture graduate in Queensland, and her capstone Honours project ‘Opal Imaginary’ which explored the opal mining landscapes in South West Queensland was awarded the 2022 Landscape Architecture Australia Student Prize: QUT.

Through her experiences of living and travelling around Australia and overseas, Marina’s is passionate about hiking, cycling and learning alongside the natural world.

Her approach to landscape is grounded in both research and understanding of relationships across time and place. With a focus on narrative, identity and First Nations knowing, Marina’s work spans considerations of landscape ecologies, cultural heritage, policy and planning.
